If the battery is low, you’ll see a message that says “Low Battery” right under the AirTag’s name. No need to panic; it’s time to change the battery.

2. Remove the AirTag’s Back Cover

Now, it’s time to get hands-on. Hold the AirTag with the stainless steel back facing you. You’ll need to press down on the cover and rotate it counterclockwise until it stops. 

Once you hear a pop, the back cover should come off, revealing the CR2032 battery inside.

3. Take Out the Old Battery

How to Remove AirTag’s Battery? Once the cover is off, remove the old battery carefully. Dispose of it properly, as coin batteries can be hazardous if thrown away carelessly.

4. Insert the New Battery

Take your new CR2032 battery (make sure it’s compatible with AirTags—some batteries come with a bitter coating that prevents them from working) and insert it into the AirTag with the positive (+) side facing up. 

You should hear a small sound indicating that the battery is securely connected.

5. Replace the Cover

Once the new battery is in, it’s time to put everything back together. Align the three tabs on the cover with the three slots on the AirTag. Press down gently and rotate the cover clockwise until it clicks into place.
